Providence Board of Licenses

These are the amended minutes of the June 4 Board of Licenses meeting, which approved dozens of summer entertainment and World Cup requests and took enforcement action against several establishments.

• Issued as amended minutes, revised on the advice of the Attorney General's office to correct the record on the new Serie 92 license (item 29), whose address was changed to 971 Broad Street. (pp. 1, 5)
• Approved a consent agenda of monthly entertainment, vendor-market, and special-event permits tied to Summer of Soccer and the FIFA World Cup fan zones. (pp. 1–4)
• Granted new BV restaurant liquor licenses with 1 a.m. closings to Serie 92, Fenix Bar Lounge, and Tacos Tijuana. (pp. 5–6)
• Approved Temporary Extended Service Hours for about 25 bars on select World Cup dates in June and July. (pp. 6–10)
• Kept the former Duva's gas station (435 Mount Pleasant Ave) closed pending resolution of outstanding DEM violations. (p. 4)
• Ordered a one-week closure of The Salon (57 Eddy St) for a neighborhood-disturbance violation and rescinded the abandoned license of Motion Nightclub/Serie92 (971 Broad St). (pp. 13–14)

Background

These are "amended minutes" — an official correction to the record of an earlier Board of Licenses meeting, here adjusting a license address on the advice of the Attorney General's office. The board itself controls who can sell alcohol, host entertainment, and stay open late in Providence, and can also close or strip the license of businesses that break the rules, as it did with several establishments here.
