Background
The Board of Contract and Supply is how Providence legally buys goods and services: vendors submit sealed bids, the board opens them in public, and contracts are awarded through a process meant to keep city spending competitive and transparent. The routine-looking block of awards is the city locking in everyday essentials — from fire-department medications to elevator maintenance — for the year ahead.
