Providence Board of Park Commissioners

The board approved five trust-fund withdrawals for park and cemetery projects and cleared two temporary public-art installations.

• Approved the March 11, 2026 meeting minutes; no public comment was offered. (p. 1)
• Authorized withdrawals from the Gould Trust to restore the Esek Hopkins House with the Providence Preservation Society and a $167,345 draw from the Charles H. Smith Trust for Botanical Center repairs. (pp. 1–2, 9)
• Approved draws from the Samuel Tingley Trust for Peace and Plenty Park playground upgrades and the Anna Mann Trust for Roger Williams Park improvements. (pp. 2–3)

Background

The park board administers a collection of charitable trusts that donors left to the city for specific parks, buildings, or the historic North Burial Ground — money that can be spent only on the purpose each donor set, which is why projects are funded one trust withdrawal at a time. The same board also signs off on public art placed on city land, balancing artists' proposals against permanence and public review.
